Oliver Jeffers is an artist and picture book maker. He was born in Australia, but grew up in Northern Ireland in Belfast. He now lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
Oliver Jeffers got his start as a picture book author on accident. He was working on a painting project and he naturally realized his painting could become a picture book.
Oliver Jeffers loves making picture books. He has said that he does not make his books for children. He makes his books for himself and for everyone... children, babies, adults, teenagers, toddlers... Oliver Jeffers believes anyone can enjoy a picture book at any age!!
Oliver Jeffers first book was titled How To Catch a Star, and became a series about a boy and his journey in finding different friendships and achieving different goals. He has published many other books of his own, and has worked as an illustrator for other authors as well. Some of his books include Lost and Found, Stuck, A Child of Books, and The Day the Crayons Quit, a book he illustrated for the author Drew Daywalt.
