Communication between home and school is extremely important. The P.S. 164 Google Group will be the school's new way of communication with parents/guardians, families and staff about important announcements, meetings, events, and updates to activities. Our parent Google Group is an email list for PS 164 parents/guardians. In addition, every class will have its own Google Group email list for sending questions, notices and communicating with the classroom teacher. You don’t need to have a gmail address to join, just an email address. (This will be replacing School CNXT.)

Parent Curriculum Night

Parent Curriculum Night is
Thursday, September 12th
from 4:30 PM - 7:30 PM.

In order to accommodate parents that have children in more than one grade we will hold two sessions to meet classroom teachers and out-of-classroom specialty teachers. We will also have parent information tables set up in the gymnasium. Don't forget to visit the information tables.

Schedule

4:30PM - 5:30PM: PTA Meeting (in the Auditorium)

5:30PM - 6:15PM OR 6:15PM - 7:00PM: Pre-K - Grade 5 Parents (Curriculum Overview): Teachers will review curriculum, routines, and expectations for the year.

5:30PM - 6:15PM OR 6:15PM - 7:00PM: Meet our Cluster/Out-Of-Classroom Staff (Program overview, goals, expectations)

4:30PM - 6:30PM: Parent information tables will be located in the gymnasium includingL
CAMBA Afterschool Program, Leadership Afterschool Program, TEAL, FDNY, School Accounts, Google Group Sign-Up, and the Brooklyn Public Library.

If childcare is needed, please drop your child off in the cafeteria.
Room assignments for teachers will be posted in the office during curriculum night
and have been sent home separately in preparation.

Immunization Requirements

Dear Families,
As of June 13, 2019, public, private and parochial schools and childcare programs in New York can no longer accept requests for religious exemptions from school immunization requirements. This law applies to students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and to all childcare settings. Schools and childcare programs will continue to accept medical exemptions.
All NYC students must meet the immunization requirements in order to attend school. Students are permitted to attend or remain in school if they have received the initial series of vaccines but must remain on schedule to stay in school. Please closely read the attached letter from the DOE and Department of Health and Mental Hygiene that details the school immunization requirements for the 2019-20 school year.
